From what I've gathered (I started a few days ago and Wikipedia helped me with this, I had the same question) When you write in Hebrew, you don't add vowels, none are incorporated. It's as if we said "swm" instead of "swim". We'd use context to know what we were writing, and pronounce it "swim" still, not "Swm".

Most words only have vowel markings when they're making sure it's read right, but they're not always used. These markings are called Niqqud, and they were made for foreigners and children. These Niqqud go underneath the letter it goes with. Like, for the word "go", the o niqqud would be under the g.

And, if a letter appears at the end of a word, it appears "elongated", or, in other words, as a final consonant. It's pronounced the same, just looks different.

I hope that helped, and if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me.
